ELA is a non-profit that relies on grants and supporters like you to fund its work documenting, revitalizing and supporting languages.

We are living at a time when linguistic and cultural diversity are more threatened than ever before. In the New York City area alone, ELA has identified and mapped over 700 languages, many of them are endangered, and there are surely many more. ELA’s work:

  • helps NYC’s immigrant populations document and maintain their languages.
  • connects linguists, speakers, and community activists.
  • enables language classes in rarely taught languages included Lenape, Quechua, K’iche, Breton, Nahuatl, and others.
  • educates the public about urban linguistic diversity and the deep diversity of New York City.

The Endangered Language Alliance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, relies on grants and supporters like you to fund its work documenting, revitalizing and promoting languages at risk.

We can’t continue our work without your financial support. Despite grants from agencies like the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation, supporting our core mission remains an ongoing challenge.

Please consider donating today. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible, and can be made through PayPal or by check. We will never sell or give your personal information to any individual or organization.
